Tata Motors displayed the Tata Tigor EV in only the
range-topping XZ grade at Auto Expo 2018. A certification document suggests that either in addition to or instead of the XZ grade, the company
will offer the car in the XE, XM and XT grades.
The Tata Tigor EV could get features like chrome
strip on front grille, full-width LED high-mount stop lamp, split LED tail
lamps, dual-tone interior colour scheme, gear knob with chrome insert,
gearshift indicator and driver footrest as standard.
For more features like projector headlamps, 15-inch
alloy wheels, electrically adjustable mirrors, body coloured door handles, body
coloured ORVMs with LED turn indicators, automatic climate control, rear power
outlet (in addition to standard front power outlet), touchscreen infotainment
system, rear-seat armrest with cupholders, dual-front airbags, ABS with EBD and
CSC, parking sensors and parking camera, buyers will have to opt for higher-end
grades.
The Tata Tigor EV measures 3,992 mm in length, 1,677
mm in width and 1,537 mm in height. It offers a ground clearance of 170 mm.
Powering the car, is an electric motor that delivers 30 kW at 4,500 rpm. Made
by Electra EV, this electric motor draws power from a 216 Ah battery that takes
6 hours to get fully charged using a standard charger. Using a fast charger,
though, the time required for charging up to 80% level is only 90 minutes. The
pure electric sedan has a top speed of 100 km/h and a driving range of 130 km.
Tata Motors has started deliveries of the Tata Tigor
EV to EESL, but its availability for private buyers is unknown. Tigor EV could be rolled out for private
car buyers if demand is strong.
