Triumph Motorcycles India has launched the Triumph
Bonneville Speedmaster in the country. The motorcycle has been priced at INR
11,11,500, ex-showroom, pan-India. The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster enters
the country via the CKD route, and the price includes the recent 5% hike in tax
for CKD bikes.
Triumph offers two optional ‘Inspiration Kits’ for
the motorcycle: Highway, and Maverick. Highlights of the Highway kit includes a
full pannier set, touring windshield, comfort seats with cushioned backrest.
The Maverick kit includes a single seat setup, flat handlebars, and Vance &
Hines exhausts. Apart from these two kits, there are over 130 custom
accessories to customise and fine-tune one’s ride.
The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster is based on the
Bobber, but is more practical, thanks to the inclusion of pillion seat. Apart
from the seat, it also gets a host of features to further improve rideability.
The front end features fatter 130-section rubber, and the rear comes with a 150-section
unit. The spoke wheels measure 16 inches on both ends, and the tyres are Avon
Cobra units. The motorcycle comes to a halt using twin 310 mm front discs and a
single rear 255 mm disc, both with ABS.
The 41 mm KYB front fork features cartridge damping,
and the rear KYB monoshock with linkage gets a pre-load adjuster. The bike is
built on a tubular steel twin cradle frame. The Triumph Bonneville Speedmaster
shares its engine with the Bobber. The High-Torque 1,200 cc SOHC parallel twin
motor puts out 77 PS of power at 6,100 rpm. The peak torque of 106 Nm comes in
at 4,000 rpm. The engine works in unison with a 6-speed transmission with
torque-assist clutch. The ride-by-wire throttle enables two riding modes: Road
and Rain. Switchable traction control, single button cruise control, and
immobiliser are standard as well.
Triumph offers a two-year, unlimited km warranty,
and the first major service interval stands at 16,000 km. Jet Black, Cranberry
Red, and Fusion White & Phantom Black with twin coach line are the three
colours available. Notable rivals include Harley-Davidson 1200 Custom, and
Indian Scout Sixty. The British brand unveiled the bike in the country at last
year’s India Bike Week in November.
