Ducati India has teased the 2018 Ducati Monster 821
in their social media handle. The motorcycle will be launched in the country on
the first of May, 2018.
The 2018 Ducati Monster features a new headlight,
redesigned fuel tank and tail section for a more aggressive look. The twin
exhaust design is similar to the one in the Monster 1200. The new TFT
instrumentation comes with gear and fuel indicator, a first for the Monster
821.
The 2018 Ducati Monster 821 employs an 821cc
Testastretta L-twin engine with liquid cooling and fuel injection. The BS-IV
compliant engine generates 110.5 PS of power at 9,250 rpm; and 86 Nm of torque
at 7,750 rpm. Compared to the earlier model, the powerplant makes 3 PS and 3.4
Nm less. The engine works in conjunction with a 6-speed gearbox with slipper
clutch. Electronics package includes Riding Modes, Power Modes, Ducati Safety
Pack (Bosch ABS + Ducati Traction Control DTC), and a pillion seat cowl.
Cycle parts include 43 mm upside down fork, and an
adjustable link-type monoshock at the rear. Dual 320 mm front discs and a 245
mm rear disc bring the motorcycle to a halt. Dual-channel ABS is standard. When
it enters the Indian market, the bike would rival the Triumph Street Triple
range, and Kawasaki Z900.
