Honda is gearing up to launch the all-new Amaze in
May 2018. Bookings for the 2018 Honda Amaze are already underway across
dealerships. Ahead of its launch, details related to its specifications and
trims have been revealed.
The Amaze will be offered in four grades – E, S, V,
and VX. The variant wise features list is yet to be released. The Amaze’s
equipment list includes LED DRLs, 15-inch double-spoke alloy wheels, C-shaped
tail lamps, Sharkfin antenna, cruise control, Digipad 2.0 touchscreen
infotainment system with navigation Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, engine
start-stop button, dual USB ports and dual 12V power outlets.
The 2018 Honda Amaze is powered either a 1.2 L
i-VTEC petrol or a 1.5 L i-DTEC diesel engine. Both can be had with 5-speed
manual or CVT gearboxes. The petrol engined variant has a power and torque out
of 90 PS and 110 Nm respectively. While the diesel manual variant has an output
of 100 PS and 200 Nm, the CVT equipped version has power and torque outputs of
80 PS and 160 Nm. ARAI rated fuel efficiency stands at 19.5 km/l for the petrol
manual and 19.0 km/l for the petrol automatic variant. The diesel manual and
automatic versions return 27.4 km/l and 23.8 km/l respectively. The diesel CVT
will only be available in the mid-level S and V grades.
Dimensionally, the new Honda Amaze has grown by 5 mm
in length (3,995 mm), 15 mm in width (1,695 mm), and has a 65 mm longer
wheelbase (2,470 mm). Height has reduced by 5 mm to 1,500 mm. The compact sedan
tips the scales at 905 kg – 1,039 kg. Luggage capacity has gone up from 400 L
to 420 L.
Prices of the 2018 Honda Amaze are expected to start
at around INR 5.60 lakhs (ex-showroom). Top-end diesel trims could touch INR
9.00 lakhs (ex-showroom). Bookings can be made at Honda dealerships for INR
11,000. The Amaze is primed to better challenge the Maruti Dzire, Hyundai
Xcent, Tata Tigor and the Ford Aspire.
