Hyundai announced that the 2018 Sonata Hybrid will
be priced now from US$ 26,385, making it US$ 500 cheaper than the 2017 model. Despite
the drop in price, Hyundai has added Blind Spot Detection with Rear Cross
Traffic Alert to the standard equipment of the 2018 Sonata Hybrid, further
boosting its value for money.
The updated 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid was revealed
at the Chicago Auto Show, featuring a more dynamic and sleeker exterior look
with the interior also receiving an updated center stack area and instrument
cluster among other changes.
The hybrid powertrain combines a 154 hp 2.0-liter GDI
four-cylinder petrol engine with a 51 hp electric motor. Combined output
remains the same as before, at 193 hp, with a six-speed automatic transmission
being the only option. The battery
pack’s capacity has been slightly increased, from 1.62 kWh to 1.76 kWh.
Hyundai claims an improved fuel economy of 39mpg
city/45mpg highway/42mpg combined, thanks to the bigger battery capacity and
optimized operating efficiency of the hybrid powertrain.
Limited models are also enhanced with new equipment,
such as a panoramic sunroof, bi-xenon headlights and LED interior lights. The
2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid Limited with Unlimited Package adds more features,
including Automatic Emergency Braking, Lane Keep Assist, wireless charging pad
and heated steering wheel.
Sales of the 2018 Hyundai Sonata Hybrid have kicked
off at dealerships nationwide.
