The Nissan GT-R is now officially sold in Thailand,
imported from Japan by Nissan Motor Thailand. The 13.5 million baht living legend is sold exclusively by Siam Nissan TKF – the Nissan High
Performance Center dealership will also handle the official GT-R’s three-year
factory warranty and servicing.
The GT-R sold in Thailand is the Premium Edition,
which is the “luxury version” of the R35 with creature comforts one would not
necessarily link to the performance icon. The other versions are the Track
Edition and Nismo. This is the latest facelift that made its debut in March
2016.
Auto LED headlamps, semi-aniline leather on the
electric seats and multi-function steering wheel (black, tan ivory, red),
cruise control, dual-zone auto air con, keyless entry and push start, reverse
camera, an 11-speaker Bose surround sound system (two subwoofers between the
rear seats), Active Noise Cancellation and an acoustic windscreen are all
standard. It wouldn’t be a GT-R without data overload, and it’s all shown on a
larger 8.0-inch touchscreen here.
It’s still a GT-R, premium or not, and the heart of
the beast is the venerable 3.8 litre twin-turbo V6, now with 555 PS and 632 Nm
of torque from 3,300 to 5,800 rpm. The hand-assembled VR38DETT‘s power goes to
all wheels via the updated (for smoothness) GR6 six-speed dual-clutch
automatic.
There’s a new lightweight titanium exhaust system
(with quiet button so you don’t disturb the neighbours) and plenty of forged
items – from the suspension components to those sexy 20-inch Rays wheels. The
Brembo brakes are six pistons gripping 390 mm front discs and four-pot 380 mm
items at the back.
It’s far from fresh, but the R35 GT-R is still a
sight to behold and respect, especially in the hero Katsura Orange of the
showcar. There’s only one G T R, and it’s not from Mercedes-Benz.
