Edaran Tan Chong Motor (ETCM) has announced order
taking for the fifth-generation Nissan Serena S-Hybrid is now open (no pricing
revealed yet), with an official launch expected to take place in May this year.
The model has already been previewed earlier and initial specifications were
provided as well.
The new C27 is continue to feature a S-Hybrid
powertrain like the C26 Serena, which consists of a MR20DD 2.0 litre
direct-injected twin-CVTC four-cylinder petrol engine providing 150 PS at 6,000
rpm and 200 Nm at 4,400 rpm. The Xtronic CVT with Adaptive Shift Control (ASC)
returns as well, and adopts a new dual arm tensioner for a lower tension on the
arm belt.
The hybrid aspect comes in the form of an ECO motor
that controls the car’s Idling Stop function and serves as an alternator during
deceleration. The 1.8 kW/200 A motor also offers a “torque assist” function,
providing a 50 Nm boost for up to one second when moving away from a
standstill. The powertrain is claimed to provide the Serena S-Hybrid with a
fuel consumption of as low as 14.2 km/l (following the NEDC), and earns the MPV
the Energy Efficient Status (EEV) as well.
Other specs include a seven-seat configuration
(2-2-3), a 360-degree Around View Monitor, seven USB ports, hands-free powered
sliding doors and Intelligent Moving Object Detection (I-MOD) – the last three
items are claimed to be first-in-class features.
Safety-wise, there are six airbags, Vehicle Dynamic
Control (VDC), traction control, Hill Start Assist (HSA), ABS with EBD, brake
assist and dual Isofix child seat anchor points. Four exterior colours will be
