Audi is putting the final touches on the next
generation Q3 SUV. Although the dashboard is still heavily covered, we’re able to spot the
main features on the interior which are none other than the new high-definition
displays used for the infotainment and instrument cluster.
Cutting-edge connectivity systems have become a
necessity in the premium compact SUV segment and Audi knows how to impress with
its interiors. This pretty much guarantees that the next Q3 will offer one of
the best environments available to the driver and occupants.
The current Audi Q3 is still based on the old PQ35
architecture and its replacement will ride on the more sophisticated MQB
platform. The new car will be longer and slightly lighter, offering more space
and better fuel efficiency. Base models in Europe will be offered with
front-wheel drive, leaving the Quattro all-wheel drive system for the more
powerful versions.
Audi wants the new Q3 to offer a more comfortable
ride and agile handling in order to successfully compete with the best in a
very crowded segment that has exploded in popularity during the past few years.
The engine range will most likely kick off with the
Group’s widely used 1.5-liter TSI unit and will include a turbocharged
2.5-liter five-pot with 400 hp in the range-topping SQ5. Mild hybrid and plug-in
hybrid versions will also be present in the range. Audi plans to add an
all-electric eTron variant as well.
Audi plans to debut the all-new 2019 Q3 late this
year, possibly at the Paris Auto Show, with production already confirmed at the
company’s Győr plant in Hungary.
