The latest-generation Audi A6 will soon welcome a new addition to the family; the S6 Avant. Outfitted with a Porsche engine and a series of styling modifications, the car promises to be the ultimate family cruiser this side of an RS6.

The 2.9-liter twin-turbo V6 available in the Porsche Panamera will be the sole engine option for the S6. While this engine is more compact than the outgoing 4.0-liter V8, it will produce roughly 450 hp. That should be enough to rocket the car to 100 km/h in under 4 seconds.

This particular 2019 Audi S6 Avant prototype was scooped out and about during winter testing with camouflage across all of the exterior. However, once that camo is removed for the production model, customers should be satisfied by a healthy dose of aggression over run-of-the-mill A6 variants. With that in mind, key tweaks will include new bumpers front and rear, enlarged air intakes, larger wheels, big brakes, and a lowered ride height. Quad tailpipes will help to cap off the alterations.

The new S6 Avant will also have an interior dramatically different than the outgoing model. Audi’s MMI touch response operating system will be featured alongside a main infotainment screen measuring 10.1-inches and a second 8.6-inch display providing climate control functionality. In usual Audi fashion, the automaker will spruce up the cabin with new ‘S’ badges, a healthy dose of carbon fiber and potentially, a new sports steering wheel.
