The Jaguar F-Type is entering the 2019 model year
with a host of minor changes. Car and Driver reports the updated model will hit
U.S. showrooms in May with prices starting at US$ 61,745. That’s a modest increase
of US$ 850 but it will get drivers behind the wheel of the entry-level coupe which
has been renamed the P300.
The model
continues to be powered by a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that
develops 296 hp and 399 Nm of torque. It is paired
exclusively to an eight-speed automatic transmission which sends power to the
rear wheels. This setup enables the coupe to accelerate from 0-60 mph in 5.4
seconds.
Next up is the F-Type P340 which starts at US$ 69,845.
It features a supercharged 3.0-liter V6 producing 340 hp and 449 Nm of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard but an
automatic gearbox is available for an additional US$ 1,300. Moving up the ladder
is the F-Type P380 which replaces the F-Type S.
The F-Type 400 Sport has been dropped so the next
model is the F-Type R which has a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 developing 550 hp and 679 Nm of torque. The US$ 101,745 model has an
eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system which enables
it to run from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds before topping out at 299
km/h.
Finally, the range-topping F-Type SVR retails for US$ 123,745. It rewards buyers with an even more powerful V8 engine producing 575
hp and 698 Nm of torque. Thanks to the extra power, the
coupe rockets from 0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds before hitting the magic 321 km/h mark.
Besides the minor name changes, all F-Type
reportedly receive a standard torque vectoring system and a larger infotainment
system with a 10-inch display. Drivers will also find a frameless rearview
mirror and a new “SVO Premium Palette” with 18 colors.
