MCN’s spy photographers have been hiding in the
Austrian bushes near KTM’s factory again and have grabbed these images of the
2019 Super Duke GT. And while the changes aren’t immediately obvious, it has
been subtly improved for next year.
Lead amongst the raft of detail changes is a new
front-end, complete with ‘baboon’s bum’ headlamp, which should protect the
rider with a bigger bubble of cleaner air. The reshaped screen should push the
windblast marginally higher and wider. Combine this with the bigger frontal
area from the new headlamp cowl and more flared radiator shrouds – and the
rider should be better protected in adverse weather conditions.
There’s also an interesting frame addition. Badged
SW Motech, the colour-matched section is clearly intended as crash protection,
but the fact KTM are running this third-party equipment on their prototype
suggests it could be supplied OE, or at least as an official accessory part.
With the addition of the enormous new TFT dash,
there also appears to be a bar-clamp bracket that now incorporates a satnav
mount, while there’s also a smattering of carbon fibre parts, including
radiator shroud covers and a tank-long protector panel.
The rest of the bike appears unaltered and this bike
has the same subframe, wheels and suspension as the current GT and the 1301cc
V-twin is also believed to be unchanged, although its electronics package will
almost certainly be upgraded to the latest spec. Expect to see the GT
officially unveiled at the shows in late 2018 and on sale in early 2019.
