Mercedes-AMG has detailed the facelifted C63 lineup
ahead of the New York Auto Show. The models have been equipped with a new Panamericana grille and
revised air vents which are designed to emphasize the width of the vehicle.
Designers also tweaked the wheel arches to improve
aerodynamic efficiency and installed a new rear diffuser. Other updates include
a new rear apron, a revised exhaust and aerodynamically optimized 18- and
19-inch alloy wheels.
The revised styling continues in the cabin as
drivers will find a new leather-wrapped sport steering wheel with Touch Control
buttons that respond to horizontal and vertical swiping movements like a
smartphone. The updated model also offers a 12.3-inch digital instrument
cluster and an infotainment system with either a 7- or 10.25-inch display.
Buyers will also find a handful of new interior
choices such as two-tone magma grey and black nappa leather seats with yellow
contrast stitching. The trim choices have also been revamped as customers can
order new options such as anthracite open-pore oak and open-pore walnut.
Under the hood, the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine
carries over. It produces 476 PS and 650 Nm of torque in
the standard model, while the C63 S is rated at 510 PS and 700 Nm of torque.
The engine is
now connected to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission which promises even
shorter shift times. Depending on the model, the C63 can accelerate from 0-100
km/h in as little as 3.9 seconds before hitting an
electronically-limited top speed of up to 290 km/h.
Besides the new gearbox, the cars have been equipped
with a retuned AMG RIDE CONTROL steel suspension with adaptive damping
adjustment. Other updates include a newly standard limited-slip rear
differential and a new AMG DYNAMICS system which allows users to select from up
to six different drive modes such as Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+” RACE and
Individual.
