In the year’s following the sedans launch, a
multitude of other Porsche models will receive similar technology and it’s not
impossible that the company may look to race autonomous vehicles in the future.
While the thought of self-driving race cars doesn’t appeal to all of us, we
could support a Porsche racer that looks like this.
Created by Indonesian designer Andhika Dimas, the
study in question has been imagined for the year 2030, and is all-electric
featuring no cabin. As such, the car is fully self-driving and therefore adopts
a sleek and appealing design free of any superfluous wings, fins, or obvious
aero aids.
In fact, the car’s design is somewhat reminiscent of
the Aston Martin Valkyrie with large aero tunnels running from the front to the
rear to suck it to the pavement. It is certainly more visually pleasing than
current Le Mans prototypes, for example, and would be entirely possible to
bring to life in a few years’ time.
In 2017, Porsche revealed that it would leave the
World Endurance Championship and Le Mans to pursue the sixth season of Formula
E in 2019. Depending on how this venture goes, the German company may be
encouraged to pursue further electric racing series’ which may be formed in the
future.
