Eleven years ago, when the first BMW M3 E92 rolled
off the assembly line with 420 PS and 400 Nm of torque
delivered by its naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V8, it was something truly
magnificent.
Nowadays, that’s about the same as a mega
hatch, which delivers a similar output from half the engine size. So, as cool
as it might be to own the only V8-powered M3 ever, it certainly can’t keep up
with newer sports car.
G-Power will bump the output of your M3 E9X
to 501 PS with a supercharger system. The upgrade, which is
part of a ’35 Years Edition’ anniversary series, is said to improve the
response of the engine, and it’s not insanely expensive either, as it costs
€ 2,999 (US$ 3,700).
This isn’t the tuner’s first foray into the M3
E90/E92/E93 (Sedan, Coupe, Convertible) family, as they previously took the V8
to incredible heights. The most impressive upgrade turns the car into a
supercar slayer, with a mind-blowing 720 PS and 650 Nm of torque, but the modification costs almost the same as a new BMW 4-Series
Coupe in Germany at € 39,950 (US$ 49,302).
For a much more reasonable € 8,999 (US$ 11,106), G-Power
will turn your BMW M3 into a 630 PS and 590 Nm (of
torque, beast. And with the extra cash, you could buy a new 2-Series Coupe,
which can be had from as low as € 30,300 (US$ 37,393) in its home market.
