The new Jaguar
XE 300 Sport with the brand’s most powerful four-cylinder Ingenium
engine. Designed to slot below the V6-powered XE S in the family,
pumps out 296 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque from its 2.0-liter mill. Grunt from the four-cylinder is funneled to
all four wheels, allowing the sedan to reach 96 km/h in 5.4 seconds.
A number of styling elements distinguish the XE 300
Sport from other variants in the range. There’s dark satin trim on
the wing mirrors, spoiler, and front grille surround. The car is
offered with model-exclusive 19- and 20-inch wheels. Customers can choose
between Yulong White, Indus Silver, Santorini Black, and Caldera Red for the
exterior paint.
Buyers of the XE 300 Sport will also be welcomed by
some changes when they step inside, including contrasting yellow stitching on
the steering wheel, seats, and door internals. Jaguar’s 10-inch Touch Pro
infotainment system comes standard.
To premiere the vehicle, the British marque
recruited the help of Hungarian Olympic gold medal-winning speed skater Shaolin
Sandor Liu to find out if the XE 300 Sport is quicker around an ice track than
him. Sandor Liu negotiated the track in 4 minutes and 4 seconds but with Jaguar
stability develpoment leader Sean Haughey behind the wheel, the car set a
blistering 3 minute and 3 second lap at an average of 59 km/h.
Jaguar has also announced 300 Sport trim levels for
the XF and XF Sportbrake. These models come with a 296 hp 3.0-liter TDV6 diesel
and are offered with the same interior and exterior touches, excluding the
Caldera Red paint.
Pricing for the XE 300 Sport starts at £ 45,160 (US$ 64,030) in the UK.
