Just because your mid-size family SUV already comes
with a monster 707 HP, it doesn’t mean after-market specialists such as
Hennessey Performance can’t improve on that. In fact, strap on the tuner’s
HPE1000 upgrade and your Hellcat-powered Grand Cherokee’s grunt will increase
to 1,012 HP and 1,313 Nm of torque. Reportedly, this results in a
0-96 km/h acceleration time of just 2.8 seconds with drag radials,
while the quarter mile comes in just 10.5 seconds.
Now, if curious about how much WHP this SUV
produces, then this dyno run should clarify things for you. The results show a
whooping 823.42 horses and 972.8 Nm at the wheels. So we are
indeed in the 15-20% powertrain loss range, something the tuner anticipated
from the get go.
As for everything else that goes into making the
Grand Cherokee Trackhawk even more of a straight line weapon, it goes a little
something like this: a 4.5-liter supercharger system with 14 psi boost,
stainless steel long tube headers, high-flow supercharger bypass valve,
upgraded fuel pump, engine management upgrade and high-flow air induction.
It also gets Hennessey exterior badging, HPE1000
badges, a serial plaque signed by John Hennessey himself and one signed by the
HPE technician who worked on the car.
