Italian coachbuilder Zagato and Lamborghini have
collaborated on many models in the past, with the most recent being the
Lamborghini 5-95 Zagato in 2014, which was based on the Gallardo. Now, a new
model has surfaced on Zagato’s website, which appears to be a roadster version
of said model.
There’s only a profile photo to go on for now, but
the upcoming model could adopt the same styling as the hardtop, albeit with
provisions for the open air setup. At the front, the more prominent front
fender encases the wider intake and is closely linked to the reshape headlamps.
Expect the Raptor Zagato-inspired floating spoiler to be part of the look as
well.
The folding soft top warrants more significant
changes from the hardtop, starting with the removal of the air scoop on the
roof as well as the large glass surfaces. The upper side intakes are also
pushed further back and integrate well with the hump just aft of the headrests.
The signature double bubble roof is also absent in this context.
As for the rear, expect a similar approach as the
hardtop, with circular taillights, wide mesh exposing the inner workings of the
engine bay, an active spoiler and four small exhaust outlets. Those tips should
be linked to a 5.2 litre naturally-aspirated V10 engine with 570 PS and 537 Nm,
which is the same engine used in the Gallardo LP570-4, the car the hardtop is
based on.
The Lamborghini 5-95 Zagato hardtop first made its
debut four years ago at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este on the shores of
Lake Como in May. At the time, it was revealed for Lamborghini collector Albert
Spiess, but it is unknown if this new one is for him as well.
