MG has officially unveiled its X-Motion Concept at
the Beijing Auto Show after a number of teaser images got us excited about the
model.
Set to act as the brand’s range-topping SUV when it
reaches the streets in production form next year, the X-Motion will initially
seat five people but there’s a possibility a slightly larger variant could be
introduced at a later date.
Like other recent MG models, namely the ZS and GS,
the X-Motion Concept has an eye-catching and somewhat appealing design. For
example, the front end has more than a touch of Mazda to it with sleek
headlights that seamlessly connect to the large front grille and pronounced
nose.
The X-Motion has black wheel arches and
very small side windows, particularly for second-row passengers. The rear of
the concept is made up of Infiniti-esque taillights, dual circular tailpipes,
and a small roof spoiler.
The road-going MG X-Motion will be powered by a
2.0-liter petrol engine but power and torque figures for this unit have yet to
be confirmed. Nonetheless, the automaker has confirmed that it will introduce
electrified powertrains at a later date.
Elsewhere, the vehicle will be available in
two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive and come complete with features including
adaptive cruise control.
Keep your eyes peeled for the production X-Motion
later this year.
