New photos of the upcoming Skoda Kamiq crossover for
China. The Kamiq will have its public debut later this month on the 2018
Beijing Auto Show and launch on the Chinese car market in June.
The Kamiq will be positioned below the
upcoming Skoda Karoq SUV. Power will come from a 1.5 liter petrol with 110 hp.
Size will be 4390/1781/1593 mm, and wheelbase is 2610 mm. The Kamiq is made in China by the
Shanghai-VW joint venture. Price will start around 90,000 yuan or US$ 14,000.
First photo of the interior, showing a tiny 7 or 8
inch screen, old fashioned analog dials, a large round steering wheel, and in
this car a manual gearbox.
The Kamiq has to bring young first-car buyers to the
Skoda brand. The main competition
in this segment comes from Chinese brands, most of which are trying to design
something more special. And the definitely have bigger touch screens than the
Skoda.
