Smart wants to get the party started with a special
concept version of the ForTwo EQ. Created by product designer Konstantin Grcic,
the study features a platform for the DJ boot. This can be operated via the
special equipment added inside, joined by a mixer console and gooseneck
microphone.
The Smart ForTwo EQ Mobile Disco features laminated
side supports that stabilize it for DJ-ing, a fog machine behind the radiator
grille, different light effects, stroboscope, spotlight, LED matrix lights,
back-lit alloy wheels and illuminated underbody. Of course, a mobile disco
cannot be complete without a very powerful sound system, and in this case, it
comes from JBL.
The Daimler-owned brand showcased the electric Smart
concept at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein last month, and will bring
it to the Salone di Mobile Milano, from April 17 to 22.
And since it’s basically a car built for show
purposes, Smart has no intention to build one for the public. However,
audiophiles can have their very own JBL sound system fitted to their Smarts,
with a 6-channel DSP amplifier in the ForTwo and an 8-channel amplifier in the
ForFour. The two-door model gets a total of eight loudspeakers, whereas its
slightly larger sibling benefits from as much as twelve.
