Tata Motors has officially revealed the
specifications of the Nexon AMT. Both petrol and diesel variants of the compact
SUV will get a 6-speed AMT. No details regarding the launch of the Tata Nexon
AMT have been shared by the company.
The power and torque outputs of the 1.2 L Revotron
petrol and 1.5 L Revotorq diesel engines remain identical to the manual
transmission variants. Pairing with the two is a 6-speed automated manual
transmission or AMT. In ‘Auto’ mode, the driver can choose from Eco, City, and
Sport, while ‘Tiptronic’ or manual gear selection works in Sport mode.
Visually, there are no changes aside from the
variant badging on the boot lid. Etna Orange with Sonic Silver finish roof has
been introduced as a new exterior paint scheme for a dual tone look. The same
was showcased at the Auto Expo in February 2018.
The Nexon AMT appears to be
based on the XZ+ trim. Which means it boasts features like dual frontal airbags
and ABS with EBD, LED DRLs, alloy wheels, front fog lamps, 6.5-inch screen for
the infotainment system with Android Auto support.
The Tata Nexon AMT is likely to go on sale in the
coming weeks. Expect the AMT variants to command a premium of around INR 50,000
over their manual counterparts. The only other compact SUVs equipped with an
AMT gearbox currently on sale are the Mahindra TUV300 and Mahindra NuvoSport.
Aside from that, Tata Nexon petrol AMT will rival the Ford EcoSport petrol AT.
