Toyota
has announced prices of its Honda City, Maruti Ciaz, and Hyundai Verna rival.
The Toyota Yaris is priced (introductory) between INR 8.75 lakhs and INR 14.07
lakhs (ex-showroom India). Bookings are open across Toyota dealerships for an
amount of INR 50,000 and deliveries will commence next month.
The
Toyota Yaris is 4,425 mm long, 1,730 mm wide and 1,475 mm tall. It rides on a
2,560 mm long wheelbase and has a ground clearance of 133 mm. There is only a
petrol engine on offer at the moment. The
naturally aspirated 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i four-cylinder unit produces 109 PS and
140 Nm of torque. It pairs with a 6-speed manual transmission or a continuously
variable transmission. Toyota does not have any plans to launch a diesel
variant yet.
Safety
features on offer include 7 airbags and ABS with EBD and BA as standard across
all grades. Top-end trims also get two front parking sensors, four rear parking
sensors, reverse camera, VSC, HAC, TPMS and all-wheel disc brakes. Highlights
of the Toyota Yaris’ features list are projector headlamps, 15-inch alloy
wheels, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and gesture
control, 8-way power adjustable driver seat, 60:40 split rear seats and
adjustable rear centre headrest.

The
entry-level Toyota Yaris J petrol manual is priced around INR 74,000 more than
the lowest-spec Maruti Ciaz petrol. The fully loaded VX grade with CVT is
pricier by more than 3 lakhs compared to the top-end Ciaz petrol automatic.
Compared to the Verna, the top-end petrol automatic is costlier by more than a
lakh. However, the Yaris does come with a slightly longer list of features.
