The British automaker has announced new top-of-the-line
versions of two vehicles in its lineup. Called Ultimate,
the trim level is now being offered on the Grandland X crossover and the Astra
hatchback.
The new Vauxhall Grandland X Ultimate adds a long
list of features to the compact crossover. On top pof the existing model’s
equipment list, the Ultimate packs adaptive cruise control, wireless mobile
phone charging, Denon sound system, around-view camera, LED adaptive lighting,
and heated windscreen, steering wheel, and rear seats. Equipment, in short, you
might expect to find on more upscale vehicles with more premium badges, but
applied in this case to the work-a-day Vauxhall.
The Grandland X comes with a 2.0-liter diesel and an
eight-speed automatic transmission. Pricing starts at £ 34,040, which represents
a considerable premium over the £ 22,515 base price.
The Astra Ultimate hatch, upgrades on the
existing Elite Nav model with a similarly impressive array of standard
equipment. It comes with LED matrix headlights, nav system, driving and parking
assistance packages, 18-inch alloys, perforated leather sport seats, tinted
rear windows, and more.
Buyers will be able to choose between two gasoline
and one diesel engine. The Astra Ultimate starts at £ 24,935, compared to the
£ 17,120 base price.
Vauxhall also offers the Ultimate trim on the Mokka
X and Crossland X, priced at £ 27,265 and £ 22,230, respectively. At this rate,
we won’t be surprised to see the treatment extended to other models like the
Insignia sedan/wagon and Zafira minivan, too.
