Initially started by two motorcycle enthusiasts,
Krautmotors now outfits riders in gear/apparel purposed for life both on and
off the saddle – as well as take part in a couple custom builds themselves. The
latest? How about an old 1979 BMW R60/6?
Engineered and designed by former Krautmotors owner
and product designer Role Reick, the most notable aspects of this build aren’t
the modifications themselves but it’s now all-electric powerplant. That’s
right, even though the bike itself is dated from 1979, it’s been given a whole
new lease on life as a fully electric throwback ride.
Now, the R60/6 boasts a
wheel hub motor up front, a full battery pack appropriately placed inside the
silver-lacquered fuel tank, a programmable controller and all-electric
throttle. A sly beast no doubt, this silent ride was completed in part for the
Fallstaff Opera Premiere later this month.
