While you’d think that good-looking custom cafe
racers are a dime a dozen, there are few we come across that are really
drop-dead gorgeous. But, when the folks at Paal Motorcycles were tasked with
doing a restomod to a dilapidated 1978 Kawasaki KZ650, they managed to create
one worth fawning over.
Built for the client, this bike actually started out
as a barn find that had been in disrepair for over 20 years. And that kind of
neglect comes at a high price, as the team had to completely disassemble the
bike and do a rebuild from the ground-up. That included sandblasting it and
applying a new paint job; refitting it with new gaskets, seals, and bearings;
building a custom one-off snub-nosed exhaust; and handcrafting the tank and
seat (including the leather pleating). We applaud the folks at Paal Motorcycles
for breathing new life into this once-forgotten bike.
