Aires, Argentina knows the importance of selecting the optimal foundation for a
successful resto mod, as most of their bikes are immaculate street tracker
builds, and their 1986 Honda XL600R ‘Dirt Trooper’ is definitely a bike whose
past looks as bright as its future.
Deeply rooted in executing the project correctly,
the team at HMC chose this Honda dual sport as their adventure bike platform
due to its history of being a well engineered machine capable of standing the
tests of time. With the engine and chassis being in relatively solid shape,
with the only engine mod being a slip on exhaust canister reused from a
previous Ducati build.
The original subframe was hacked off in favor of a
Ducati Scrambler unit, including the seat and tail section, and the stock fuel
tank was swapped out for a BMW R100 can that is neatly modified to look like a
rugged metal safari style gas can. Capped off with front and rear cargo racks,
the Dirt Trooper is a retro rig that is ready to rip.
