Based out of their workshop in Graz, Austria,
Vagabund’s Paul Brauchart and Philipp Rabl aren’t fans of building the same
thing twice. So, when a request came down the pipeline for them to replicate a
recent build, the duo worked to fulfill the needs of that customer request but
at the behest of keeping things a fresh and innovative as possible.
The bike in question here is a ’92 BMW R80 RT with
only 15,500 miles logged on the odometer so little to no engine work was required
– leaving Paul and Phillip ample time for some cosmetic upgrades and designs.
This included an entire revamp of the body, save the fuel tank, including a 3D
printed seat that’s also custom upholstered and now features an LED backlight.
Additionally, they fabricated a custom-made subframe, replaced the stock rear
shock with a YSS upgrade, shortened the front forks by 60 mm, powder coated the
ride, introduced a Motogadget speedometer up front along with LSL handlebars
and now set the sled atop a pair of Continental ContiRoadAttack tires, K&N
filters, a Supertrapp muffler and a set of glass fiber-reinforced black plastic
covers which add a touch of dark futurism to the German machine.
