Mercedes UK has opened the order books for the
refreshed C-Class Saloon and Estate models, while at the same time revealing
how much they cost. The facelifted C-Class is priced from £ 33,180, landing you
the petrol-powered C200 SE Saloon model, while the Estate version, with the
same engine, starts from £ 34,380. The more powerful version of the C-Class this
side of a C63, aka the AMG C43, starts from £ 49,675 in Saloon form, while the
Estate starts at £ 50,875.
Mercedes took the opportunity to introduce a range of new, more efficient
petrol and diesel powertrains, as well as more modern tech inside the cabin.
Customers can now opt for a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, with the
infotainment system also getting a much needed refresh, now featuring a
10.25-inch display.
The facelifted Mercedes C-Class will be available
with three powertrain choices in the C200, C220d and the AMG C43. The C200,
which is available in both rear- and all-wheel drive versions, now features an
all-new 1.5-liter petrol engine that’s sitting at the heart of a mild hybrid
powertrain. The new engine works together with belt-driven starter/alternator,
branded as EQ Boost, which adds 14 hp to the total output of 181 hp and 280 Nm of peak torque.
Mercedes says that the new mild-hybrid C200 is now
returning up to 46.3 mpg UK (4Matic: 42.2 mpg UK) on the combined cycle while
emitting 136g/km of CO2 (4Matic: 148g/km). The single diesel variant, the
C220d, uses the same 2.0-liter engine that debuted in the E-Class. It produces
191 hp and 400 Nm and returns an average of 61.4 mpg UK and
CO2 emissions from 117g/km.
As for the C43 4Matic, it uses a biturbo 3.0-liter
V6 with 384 hp and 520 Nm of torque, enabling it to sprint
from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.7 seconds. All available powertrains in the
C-Class range are paired to a 9G-Tronic automatic transmission.
Sales of the new Mercedes C-Class have already
started, with the first deliveries expected to arrive in July.
