As per a report from Autocar India, the Bajaj Pulsar
125 is in the works and is likely to be launched in April 2019 or by mid-2019. Recently, there were speculations about the Bajaj
Pulsar LS 135’s future. But the motorcycle is indeed still in production.
However, the ABS and CBS norms in 2019 may not be favourable to the bike’s
existence in the market as it would need ABS, which would further drive the
price up north. The news site reports that to mitigate this issue, the
Pune-based brand is working on the smallest Pulsar yet, the Pulsar 125.
The upcoming motorcycle will reportedly feature the
124.6 cc engine that once did duty in the 2012 Bajaj Discover 125 T & ST.
The 124.6 cc single cylinder twin-spark engine produces 13 hp at 9,000 rpm and
10.8 Nm of torque at 7,000 rpm. The mill pairs with a 5-speed transmission.
Since the engine capacity is below 125cc, it would only need CBS to comply with
the safety norms. ABS is mandatory for motorcycles with engine capacities above
125 cc. The website reports that the upcoming bike will be ‘light and sporty’,
but may have a different design compared to the LS 135. It is unclear whether
the bike will sport the ‘LS’ moniker. However, it is certain that the product
will be a naked motorcycle.
