In a world where there were no safety regulations
and car designers could do as they please, we’d all be driving cars that look
dramatically different than what we do now.
Take this GAC concept rendered by Dakai Jiang, for
example. Dubbed the Enshadow concept, it has four wheels like any normal car
but free from the constraints of rules and regulations, the Behance artist has
managed to design something other-worldly.
Take the front fascia. Rather than featuring
headlights which incorporate daytime running lights, turn signals, high- and
low-beam lenses, it simply makes do with thin LEDs that emit a constant stream
of white light.
Beneath the headlights you’ll find a front bumper that
protrudes out and lacks any kind of familiar grille. It’s simply a piece of
curvaceous and sharp metal which looks insane but would have no chance of
passing pedestrian safety regulations.
The impressive design elements continue from there.
At the sides, advanced wheel covers ensure optimal aerodynamics while large
pieces of bodywork behind the rear wheels help to further smooth out airflow.
The rear, much like the front, consists of a thin light and not much else.
As intriguing as these areas are, they’re nothing
compared to the windscreen design. In place of a traditional piece of glass is
an open area where the engine could sit and just behind it, there is a small
vertical screen which occupants presumably look out of. It makes for an
altogether weird and wacky design but one that works quite well.
