Spy shots of the upcoming KTM 790 Adventure T and
KTM 1290 Adventure T reveal that both bikes will be getting major changes to
the bodywork for the 2019 model year. The 'T' models from KTM are big adventure
touring bikes, not quite with the off-road capability of the Super Adventure
series, but with features touring riders seem to be fond of. And for 2019,
improved aerodynamics and features suited for long distances on the highway.
For 2019, KTM has focussed extensively on wind-deflection and better weather
protection. But it's more or less certain that KTM's big bikes will not be
launched in India, even though Bajaj Auto owns 48 per cent of the Austrian
firm.
The 1290 Adventure T gets an all-new face with
aerodynamic curves around the headlights which feed air up and out of the sides
where the blast is collected by the extended hand guards and forced away from
the rider. The bodywork too has undergone extensive re-design with extended
parts running down the side of the bike, almost like a full fairing, and with
new wind-directing fins off the side-mounted coolers which direct the engine's
hot air away from the rider's legs and also provide protection from both the
rider and passenger from the weather.
The 790 T also seems to sport similar wings but
misses out on the big changes to the bodywork, like the full-faired look the
1290 gets. Expect both the new KTMs to be unveiled possibly at this year's
EICMA how in Milan in November.
