The Lamborghini Urus has just been named the
official lead car for the marque’s Super Trofeo Europe racing series. The
championship kicked off earlier this year and has already completed two of its
six rounds. The remaining races will be held in Misano next month,
Spa-Francorchamps in July, the Nurburgring in September, and Vallelunga in
November.
Lamborghini published a series of photos of the SUV
on its Facebook page but for the most part, the vehicle appears identical to
the road-going production model. As a matter of fact, the only visible changes
are some stickers across the exterior. Power continues to come from a
twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 engine delivering 641 hp and 627 lb-ft of torque. It
actually has more power than the Huracan Super Trofeo race cars.
The Lamborghini Urus isn’t the only interesting
addition to this year’s Super Trofeo series. The extreme Huracan Super Trofeo
Evo has made its premiere this season and makes the already-impressive Super
Trofeo look tame. Among the key aerodynamic modifications include new canards,
a custom rear wing, a large shark fin and an aggressive roof scoop to feed the
naturally-aspirated 5.2-liter V10 engine.
Making the Huracan Super Trofeo Evo all the more
extreme is the fact that it is offered to teams solely in rear-wheel drive.
