If you can’t wait for Mercedes-AMG to introduce the
Black Series version of the GT R, you can always turn to certain tuning
companies that will take care good care of it. When it leaves the factory, the
GT R has a twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 that pumps out a healthy 585 PS and 700 Nm of torque.
Take it to Renntech and they will bump the
output up to 825 PS and 850 Nm. The extra muscle
comes after the tuner upgraded the ECU, installed a larger turbo and air
filter, and fiddled with the blow-off valves and other parts.
The
Mercedes-AMG GT R has had its dual-clutch seven-speed automatic gearbox
upgraded. We don’t know how fast Renntech’s GT R is, but the stock model needs
3.6 seconds for the 0-100 km/h sprint and maxes out at 318 km/h. There’s a lesser version available as well, which provides just a minor
power boost, to 612 PS and 730 Nm.
Renntech also took care of the exterior by adding
front bumper canards, side rocker panels, a larger two-stage rear wing and
bigger diffuser at the rear. These are complemented by a new set of wheels,
measuring 10×19-inch at the front and 12×20-inch at the rear and wrapped in
285/30 and 335/25 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 ZP semi-slick tires respectively.
