The Tata Nexon AMT has gone on sale priced at INR
9.41 lakhs and INR 10.3 lakhs (ex-showroom Delhi) for the petrol and diesel
variants respectively. Unveiled at the 2018 Auto Expo in February, the compact
SUV features a 6-speed AMT and is available only in the fully-loaded XZA+
grade.
The power and torque outputs of the 1.2 L Revotron
petrol and 1.5 L Revotorq diesel engines are identical to the manual
transmission variants – 110 PS/170 Nm and 110 PS/260 Nm respectively. In ‘Auto’
mode, the driver can choose from Eco, City, and Sport, while ‘Tiptronic’ or
manual gear selection works in Sport mode. Driver assistance features include
hill start assist and creep function.
There are no changes visually, aside from the ‘XZA+’
badging on the boot lid. A new dual tone exterior shade – Etna Orange with
Sonic Silver finish roof – has been introduced. It is same as the one showcased
at the Auto Expo in February 2018.
Based on the range-topping XZ+ grade, the Tata Nexon
AMT features dual frontal airbags and ABS with EBD, LED DRLs, alloy wheels,
front fog lamps, 6.5-inch screen for the infotainment system with Android Auto
support, and wearable SmartKey.
The Tata Nexon automatic variants cost circa INR
40,000 more than their manual counterparts. Petrol variant of the Nexon rivals
the Ford EcoSport petrol AT, while the diesel AMT Nexon competes with the
Mahindra TUV300 AMT.
