While we wouldn’t go so far as to say that the
WWII-era was a great time for the world, it did certainly produce some of the
most iconic vehicles of all time. And while most aren’t in working condition
anymore, this nearly immaculate 1945 Dodge WC-58 reconnaissance/command radio
jeep is – and it could be yours.
Built by Dodge and equipped with a Signal Corps
Radio set in front of the rear seat (and a 12-volt electrical system), this is
exactly the kind of vehicle you might see communications officers tooling
around in – be that on base or out in the field.
It was also equipped with a
heavy-duty winch on the front end, an entrenchment tool mounted to the back,
and a classic jerry can outside the passenger side door (of which all are still
accounted for). Originally producing 92 horsepower and 180 foot-pounds of
torque, this incredibly well-cared-for example of an iconic wartime SUV can be
yours, thanks to RM Sotheby’s and their upcoming June auction. No starting bid
has been listed.
