The pursuit to find a one-size-fits-all set of
wheels that feels acclimated anywhere the tires travel can often feel
fruitless. Nevertheless, Avant-Garde Collection of Portland, OR set their
sights on the prize when they created this go-anywhere, do-anything 1983
Porsche 911SC in Safari trim.
Acquired by the selling dealer a year ago, this well
driven 911SC example has seen extensive modifications before being put up for
auction. The chassis received a massive facelift in the form of a 2.5-inch
suspension lift from Elephant Racing, with coilover shocks mounted at each
wheel, giving enough room to tuck in the 16-inch Braid wheels wrapped in meaty
27-inch BFG All-Terrain tires.
Under the hood, the factory 3.0-Liter flat six
cylinder got a complete teardown and rebuild with the inclusion of high
performance cams, freshly balanced pistons, and an upgraded Permatune CDI unit,
giving some extra pep in the step of the safari ready rallier. Additional
add-ons include aluminum skid plates and drivetrain guards, a massive TRE light
pod, and a Warn winch, everything you’ll need to have piece of mind when
blasting off the highway and shredding through the dirt.
