Fiat Chrysler Automobiles didn’t
announce plans to eliminate the Fiat brand in North America during its Capital
Markets Day presentation earlier this month. Instead, the brand will continue
its ho-hum existence with an assortment of facelifted models and minor special
editions.
The latest such vehicle is the 500X Adventurer
Edition which will go on sale in the United States this summer. Based on the
500X Trekking, the special edition is essentially a $945 package which adds
black roof rails, orange mirror caps and 18-inch aluminum wheels. The package
also includes orange body-side graphics and splash guards.
Fiat declined to release interior pictures but
that’s probably for the best as the Adventurer Edition only adds a rear cargo
tray and all-weather floor mats. While it’s hard to get excited about floor
mats and a cargo tray, it appears the Adventurer Edition provides a decent
amount of value as the two interior items are also available on the All Weather
Base Package by Mopar and that costs US$ 225.
The Fiat 500X Adventurer Edition will be available
exclusively in four colors including Bianco Gelato (White Clear Coat), Nero
Cinema (Black Clear Coat), Grigio Graphite (Graphite Grey) and Grigio Argentino
(Grey Metallic). On the inside, customers have a choice between black or brown.
Since the special edition is based on the 500X Trekking, pricing starts at US$ 24,630. An all-wheel drive variant is also available for an additional US$ 1,900.
Regardless of which version is selected, both are
powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that develops 180 hp and 237 Nm of torque. It is connected to a standard nine-speed
automatic transmission.
