Mazda 2018 CX-5 is on-sale now in Australia with the Japanese car maker saying it has added “new technologies to boost performance and improve efficiency across all engine grades”. The entry price starts at AUD 28,690+ORC, with some variants seeing a price drop of between AUD 400 and AUD 800.

Despite the price drop, the Akera now gets a 360-degree surround view monitor to match key competitors while the Touring replaces its flip-up head-up display with a windscreen based display.

The old car’s turbo-diesel engine has been replaced by Mazda’s latest-generation 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-diesel which is considerably more powerful, offering 190 Hp (up from 175 Hp) and 450 Nm of torque (up from 420 Nm). The 2.5-litre petrol engine has also been tweaked with cylinder deactivation added to the mix to improve fuel efficiency when driving at constant speeds.
