Following its North American debut at the New York
Auto Show, Hyundai has announced the 2019 Santa Fe will be priced from US$ 25,500
in the United States. Costing US$ 550 more than the previous Santa Fe Sport, the
all-new crossover features an upscale design, improved fuel economy ratings and
additional driver assistance systems.
The entry-level Santa Fe SE 2.4 comes standard with
automatic headlights and 17-inch alloy wheels. The crossover also has air
conditioning, power windows / locks, a rearview camera and a 7-inch Display
Audio system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay compatibility.
The model has the Hyundai
SmartSense suite of driver assistance systems which include Blind-Spot
Collision-Avoidance Assist, Lane Keeping Assist, High Beam Assist and Forward
Collision-Avoidance Assist. Other features include Rear Cross-Traffic
Collision-Avoidance Assist and Smart Cruise Control with Stop and Go.
Power is provided by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder
engine which produces 185 hp and 241 Nm of
torque. It is connected to an eight-speed automatic transmission which can be
paired to an optional all-wheel drive system for an additional US$ 1,700.
The Santa Fe SEL 2.4 begins at US$ 27,600 and it features
a more upscale exterior with fog lights, a shark-fin antenna and side mirrors
with approach lights. Interior changes are modest but include heated front
seats, an 8-way power driver’s seat and a 7-inch color display in the
instrument cluster. Other additions include the Blue Link connectivity system
and a proximity key with a push button ignition.
The mid-level Santa Fe SEL Plus 2.4 packs on the
features and pricing starts at US$ 29,800. The model has
roof rails, a hands-free liftgate and 18-inch alloy wheels. Other features
include a dual-zone automatic climate control system, a leather-wrapped
steering wheel and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with HomeLink. Buyers will
also find sliding second row seats and a 12-speaker Infinity audio system with
a subwoofer.
Buyers looking for more luxury can check out the
Santa Fe Limited 2.4. The model starts at US$ 32,600 and comes equipped with LED
lighting units, a panoramic glass sunroof and satin chrome exterior accents.
Other niceties include an 8-way power passenger seat and leather upholstery.
The Limited can be equipped with an optional
turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine developing 235 hp and 353 Nm of torque. It’s a US$ 1,600 option but Hyundai also throws
in 19-inch wheels and a trailering package.
Lastly, the range-topping Santa Fe Ultimate 2.4 will
be priced from US$ 35,450. The crossover has a heated steering wheel, heated /
ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and an 8-inch infotainment system
with GPS navigation. Other additions include rain-sensing wipers, a wireless
smartphone charger and a color head-up display.
The Ultimate can also be
equipped with the 2.0-liter turbo engine but, interestingly, Hyundai charges US$ 1,650 for it. That’s US$ 50 more than the same upgrade on the Santa Fe Limited.
