Set to debut on the 2019 Opel Insignia later this
year, it will be offered in two versions called Multimedia and Multimedia Navi
Pro. In its range-topping form, the system has an 8-inch touchscreen display, joined
by a digital instrument cluster and available head-up display in the more
expensive option.
Said to be “stylish and intuitive to use”, the
infotainment system provides access to smartphone integration, with Apple
CarPlay and Android Auto, AM/FM radio, Bluetooth, USB, navigation and optional
DAB+, along other features.
Users can pair up to two smartphones simultaneously,
and enjoy points of interest and destination such as Live Traffic, real-time
fuel prices, parking information, and others. The system can be controlled via
the touchscreen, buttons on the steering wheel or, in the case of the
Multimedia Navi Pro, voice control.
Opel’s developers have paid extra care to
customization, as the infotainment system allows up to five drivers to define
their own profiles. Thus, they can save their favorite destinations, points of
interest, playlists, equalization for the sound system and climate control
settings.
The first models in the company’s lineup to benefit
from the new infotainment system will be the Insignia Grand Sport, Sports
Tourer, Country Tourer and GSi. Subsequently, other vehicles will adopt it,
later this year and in 2019.
