The new generation 2018 Audi Q5 was launched in
India in January this year. It is currently offered with only a diesel engine
option. Audi has announced that it will launch an Audi Q5 petrol engine variant
in India on 28 June 2018.
Globally, the second generation Audi Q5 petrol is
available with just one engine. It’s the 2.0-litre TFSI petrol engine that
produces 252 PS at 5,000-6,000 rpm and 370 Nm of torque at 1,600-4,500
rpm. In China, there is a 190 PS 2.0-litre TFSI option, though. The
7-speed S Tronic automatic transmission and the quattro AWD system with ultra
technology are standard in all the markets. Which of the two petrol engines is
planned to be offered in India is unknown.
The Audi Q5 petrol could be offered in the Premium
Plus grade and/or the Technology grade. The Premium Plus grade features LED
headlights, 18-inch alloy wheels, heated mirrors, LED rear lights with dynamic
indicators, power front seats, three-zone automatic climate control, panoramic
sunroof, MMI Radio Plus infotainment system, Aluminium Rhombus inlays, interior
lighting package and eight airbags.
The Technology grade’s key features include Adaptive
suspension with Damping control, heated mirrors with memory function, power
front seats with Driver’s side memory package, MMI Navigation plus infotainment
system with MMI Touch, Audi virtual cockpit, Audi Phone Box with wireless
charging, Audi smartphone interface and Walnut velvet brown inlays.
The Audi Q5 petrol could be priced from around INR
52 lakh (ex-showroom). It will rival petrol variants of the Mercedes-Benz GLC,
Land Rover Discovery Sport, and the recently launched BMW X3.
