BMW has released pricing of the all-new 8-Series Coupe, in its home market of Germany. It is available in two trim levels, the 840d diesel and M850i petrol, both of them with xDrive all-wheel drive, starting at € 100,000 (US$ 116,023) and € 125,700 (US$ 145,841).

The first one makes use of a twin-turbo 3.0-liter six-cylinder diesel engine. It generates 320 PS and 680 Nm of torque, and allows the model to sprint from rest to 100 km/h in 4.9 seconds.

The BMW M850i xDrive is more impressive, with its new twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine. The mill delivers a total output of 530 PS and 750 Nm of torque to both axles, and the brand claims an impressive 3.7sec needed for the 0-100 km/h acceleration. Both models use a dual-clutch eight-speed automatic gearbox, which has been enhanced.

Selecting some extra gear from the options list will make the new flagship Bimmer more expensive than the base Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe. The latter starts from € 128,121 (US$ 148,650) in Germany, in the S560 guise, powered by a V8 petrol engine that makes 469 PS.

The M Sport Package is reserved for the M850i flavor and will set buyers back for € 5,550 (US$ 6,439), whereas the M Technic Sport Package costs € 4,100 (US$ 4,757). Choosing the Carbon Package means paying another € 4,100 (US$ 4,757), and that’s without the carbon fiber roof, which adds € 3,000 (US$ 3,481) to the sticker price.

BMW is going to launch the new 8-Series in global markets in the coming weeks/months, and then we’ll have more to report on.
