This F90 BMW M5 managed to lap the Sachsenring in
just 1:31.71 sec, and according to tuner AC Schnitzer, the car was still under
development at the time. Even the parts that are now available as carbon fiber
mods, where then used as painted GRP bits. The car had never even been on the
track before. And yet, it managed to be quicker than the likes of the
Lamborghini Aventador LP750-4 SV and the 2017 Porsche 911 Turbo S.
Driver Jörg Müller managed to set a time that’s four
seconds faster than what you’d normally be able to achieve in a stock M5. Also,
the 1:31.71 sec lap time makes this AC Schnitzer-tuned Bimmer the fastest ever
sedan to lap the Sachsenring.
Instead of its usual 600 PS and 750 Nm of torque, this car put down 700 PS and 850 Nm.
Unlike some of its other mods, the power kit is currently still in development.
Also in preparation are the AC Schnitzer carbon
front spoiler elements, the front splitter, rear diffuser, custom paddle
shifters, custom exhaust and spring kit, while the side skirts, rear roof
spoiler, carbon fiber ‘Racing’ rear wing, rear skirt protection foil, aluminum
pedals, foot rest and iDrive controller cover are good to go.
