Brabham unveiled their BT62 track-only supercar last
month, and they have already received a few deposits, despite the starting
price of £ 1 million (US$ 1.34 million) in the UK without taxes and before options.
Besides offering customers a full visual carbon fiber pack and a passenger seat
as options, Brabham has now announced the option between the ‘Celebration’ or
‘Signature’ series.
Limited to 35 units out of the total 70 that will be
produced, the Celebration series pays tribute to the company’s 35 Grand Prix F1
wins. Each car will honor a specific race win with a specific livery. For
example, chassis number one (BT62/01) will celebrate Brabham’s first-ever F1
victory, achieved by Dan Gurney in the BT7, on June 26, 1964, by wearing the
same green and gold colors among other styling cues.
Other BT62s will remind us of different victories in
Formula 1, including the one achieved by Jack Brabham in 1966 at Reims, when he
became the first driver to win Formula 1 Championship race in a car of his own
construction. The red and blue example driven by Niki Lauda, with which he won
at Anderstorp in Sweden, on June 17, 1978, will be celebrated in chassis #19.
The Signature series on the other hand, which
includes the rest of the 35 examples, is all about customization. Brabham will
allow owners to work with in-house designers to configure an individual
pattern.
Tipping the scales at just 972 kg dry, the
Brabham BT62 has a mid-mounted naturally-aspirated 5.4-liter V8 engine. It
develops 710 PS and 666 Nm of torque, and works
together with a six-speed sequential racing gearbox.
