The one-off Ferrari SP38 Deborah has just premiered
at Villa d’Este on the shores of Lake Como in Italy. Unveiled online a few days
ago, the SP38 comes from the marque’s Special Projects division and is based on
the 488 GTB. There’s no word on how much it cost to commission, but it is
inevitably worth into the millions.
Prior to its public debut in Italy, the car was
simply known as the SP38. However, we’ve since learned that it is the SP38
Deborah in reference to the sleek red paint, dubbed Deborah Red. The exterior
design of the SP38 Deborah is what makes the car stand out. The front is
characterized by a low and tapered fascia that looks somewhat similar to the
Ferrari J50 limited edition.
The roofline of the 488 GTB has also been made to
look more aggressive with reshaped side windows and three color-matched louvers
in place of the see-through engine cover.
The videos also allow us to see the car’s interior
that features a number of bespoke parts, including red trim on the steering
wheel and contrast stitching on the seats. Other than that, though, the cabin
is the same as the 488’s.
The same stands for the powertrain as well, which,
as in the 488 GTB, is a twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 delivering 661 HP to
the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and a trick
electronically controlled diff.
With such a unique body that’s not quite as sublime
as the J50, yet, dare we say, is better than that of what Ferrari is churning
out right now, we really couldn’t care less. And, after watching the videos, we
think you’ll agree.
