We presume that Ferrari will never make a
convertible version of the SP38, as the whole idea behind it was to create a
one-off for a wealthy customer. However, while we won’t get to see the SP38 as
a Spider in the real world, we can always see how it would look like thanks to
a rendering by Xtomi.
The digital artist hasn’t only chopped the roof off,
but changed the panel behind the seats to give it a rollover protection.
Elsewhere, the Italian supercar looks the same as the real deal, but removing
its roof would obviously come with the weight penalty of a reinforced chassis.
Hypothetically speaking, an SP38 Spider would
practically be just as fast as the one-off launched last weekend during the
Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este event in Italy. After all, it would retain the
twin-turbo 3.9-liter V8 of the 488, on which it is based.
