It’s been ten years now since Lexus started offering
its F-branded performance models. So it’s celebrating with two special
editions, and they each carry a rather hefty premium.
The 10th Anniversary Editions are being offered in
the US on both the RC F coupe and the GS F sedan, featuring matte gray paint,
19-inch black polished wheels, blue Brembo brake calipers, and Michelin Pilot
Super Sport tires.
Inside they both feature blue leather upholstery
with white accents. The special RC F’s cabin is further enhanced with an
embossed headliner and blue-accented trim. And the GS F’s interior features
carbon-fiber trim, leather, and suede trim all done up in the sub-brand’s
signature blue.
Based as they are on the performance models, both
pack 5.0-liter naturally aspirated V8 engines rated at 467 horsepower and 389
lb-ft of torque and mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. They also
feature torque-vectoring rear differentials, Vehicle Integrated Dynamics Management
system, and more to help get all that power down to the tarmac through the rear
wheels alone.
Lexus
will only offer 250 examples of the special-edition RC F, and 100 of the GS F
in the US market. The coupe carries a sticker price of US$ 80,810 (representing a
whopping US$ 16,160 premium over the standard model), while the sedan sells for US$ 89,350 (or a relatively more reasonable US$ 5,000 premium).
For that extra dough,
they come with the 10th Anniversary Package which would otherwise cost US$ 9,000
on its own, and they also come with the optional Performance Package,
Triple-Beam headlights, and Intuitive Park Assist systems.
