Luxury carmaker Rolls-Royce is probably already contemplating a future in which its models will be chauffeuring you around fully autonomously, while staying connected to the infrastructure, as well as other vehicles on the road.

Need proof? Look no further than the 103EX Concept unveiled by Rolls-Royce back in 2016. It had no steering wheel, a sofa-like seat, a virtual assistant/chauffeur and a massive OLED screen for infotainment purposes.

So, it’s not all that different than this rendering by Esteban Diaz, who seems to have combined the 103EX with a modern-day Wraith when it comes to styling. His design has enclosed rear wheels, a long, Sweptail-like rear and a transparent top, where you can even see the presumably fully-electric power unit. Still, the interior is what fascinates us most. The entire cabin is surrounded by displays, and there’s no sign of a steering wheel – nor a mirror for that matter, inside or out.

Luxury car buyers will probably adjust a lot faster to self-driving technology than everyone else, especially those who actually enjoy being in control. Realistically speaking though, something resembling this independent study won’t be unveiled any time soon.

As for a more spacious approach to future-based luxury, check out this so-called Rolls-Royce Exterion Concept and its tremendously elegant design. It looks like something out of The Expanse.
