The Suzuki Burgman Street 125 cc scooter was
recently spotted on public roads in Gurgaon by YouTube user Yatharth Chauhan.
The upcoming scooter was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo in February earlier
this year. The video was captured during the filming of a television commercial
for the Burgman Street in preparation for its launch in India.
In terms of design, the Suzuki Burgman Street is
unlike anything currently on sale in India. It features LED headlamps and
windshield mounted on the front. The scooter measures 1,884 mm long, 661 mm
wide, and 1,163 mm tall. It is the smallest member of the Suzuki Burgman
scooter family, which includes the Burgman 650, Burgman 400, and the Burgman
200.
Power comes from a 124.3 cc single cylinder engine
with air cooling mated to a CVT. It's the same engine as the Access 125. The
exact specifications have not been revealed yet. In the Access 125, this engine
develops max power of 8.7 PS at 7,000 rpm and a peak torque of 10.2 Nm at 5,000
rpm.
The Suzuki Burgman Street gets a telescopic front suspension and
hydraulic type at the rear. There is a disc brake up front and drum brake at
the back linked by Combination Braking System. The scooter rides on 90/90 - 12
54J front and 90/100 - 10 54J rear tubeless tires.
Suzuki has not announced an official launch date of
the Burgman Street yet. The only information the company has provided is that
the launch will take place in 2018. As per a report from April, the scooter
will be launched by the end of June.
Suzuki will position the Burgman Street above its
other 125 cc offering - Suzuki Access 125. Expect pricing to fall in the INR
65,000 - 70,000 (ex-showroom) bracket. Rivals will include the TVS Ntorq, Honda
Activa 125, Vespa 125, Aprilia SR 125, and the Honda Grazia.
