The Tata Tigor JTP’s road testing has commenced, spy
photos posted by Team-BHP have revealed. The Tata Tigor JTP was introduced with
the Tata Tiago JTP at Auto Expo 2018.
The Tata Tigor JTP is a sporty variant of the
compact sedan, co-developed with Jayem Automotives. The JTP variant has the
same length (3,922 mm) and width (1,677 mm) as the standard variant, but it
sits 35 mm lower (1,502 mm). While the latter offers a ground clearance of up
to 170 mm, the former’s ground clearance is 161 mm. The JTP variant features a
retuned suspension for better handling.
Under the hood, the Tata Tigor JTP packs a more
capable engine than the regular Tata Tigor. It’s the JTP 1.2-litre turbocharged
engine that produces 110 PS at 5,000 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 2,000-4,000
rpm. It’s also a three-cylinder unit, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission
with revised gear ratios. While the Tigor MT features Eco and City drive modes,
the Tigor JTP MT features City and Sport drive modes.
The Tata Tigor JTP has some visual differentiators
also to set itself apart from the regular Tigor. At the front, it sports gloss
black grilles with gloss black frame, JTP logo on the upper grille and a newly
designed bumper. Changes on the sides include red mirror caps, underbody
skirts, exclusive alloy wheels and faux fender vents with JTP logo. At the
rear, the JTP variant has gloss black boot lid garnish, faux rear diffuser and
a twin-tip exhaust pipe.
The sporty theme continues inside with gloss black
inserts, red AC vent surrounds, leather/leatherette seats and steering with
contrast stitching and JTP branding on the seats. Other equipment highlights
include automatic climate control, 5-inch touchscreen infotainment system,
eight speakers, ABS with EBD and CSC and dual-front airbags.
The launch of the JTP range will take place this
fiscal. The Tata Tigor JTP could be priced between INR 7 lakhs and INR 8 lakhs
ex-showroom.
